Nailsea Lawn Tennis Club were awarded money to improve their on-court lighting.

The Nailsea tennis club has successfully transitioned from its old halogen floodlights to brand new LED floodlighting after being given a £20,000 grant by The National Grid Electricity Transmission’s Community Grant Programme.

The grant comes as part of a scheme that has been run by the National Grid to try and help community organisations and charities in areas of the country where work involving the high-voltage transmission network impacts the everyday lives of people due to its operations and construction activities.

As part of the ongoing investment in the club’s future, Chairman Jon Lawson has also announced a new Umbrella Coaching Agreement with Matchpointtennis, that will provide far more coaching at the club and allow it to deliver more general, health related activity to residents of Nailsea.

To mark the occasion, ex-club member, Sir Liam Fox, dropped in to congratulate the Club on its recent success and also to see other initiatives underway at the Club, which forms part of the wider community Mizzymead Recreation Centre.
