Clevedon Ladies Hockey Club 2-0 BAC Ladies 2nds

Clevedon were made to work hard against experienced opposition but a great display saw them through.

The home team immediately went on the offensive Hannah Becker raiding down the right and Beth Barzotelli running from deep forced the visitors to defend.

Georgie Blackburn and Vicky Ford looked dangerous up front and Lauren Bird and Laura Gillespie held firm at the back.

Barzotelli was the instigator of many of the home attacks and midway through the half she ran into the D, eluded her markers shooting at the goal, the ball was deflected and fell into the path of Ford who seized the opportunity to put Clevedon ahead.

After the break BAC went in search of an equaliser, displaying some good skills to test the home defenders, but with a series of great tackles and defending form Louise Wiseman and great saves from Christina Becker.

Clevedon held firm and regained control, Meredith and Blackburn tested the keeper and the game was settled when Barzotelli showcased her skills to put the game to bed with the second goal and seal a good victory and three points for Clevedon.

On Saturday Clevedon travel to play high-flying Old Bristolians 4th, in a 2.30pm start at Gordano School.
