Clifton VI 1-4 Clevedon Ladies

The home side were immediately on the offensive but found Clevedon in no mood to give anything away with Laura Gillespie in great form.

Beth Barzotelli playing deep marshalled the midfield as the visitors began to take control, Lauren Hughes was inspired as she drove forward forcing the home team onto the back foot. Eventually Clevedon's pressure paid off when Ashlee Cooper put them in front, this was quickly followed by a goal from Georgina Blackburn.

The visitors were playing some lovely hockey, Caitlin Meredith leading the attack was unlucky not to increase the lead as she and Beth Barzotelli had Clifton defending desperately and Vicky Ford with some delightful skills kept them on top.

After the break the home side found a way through but Christina Becker in goal produced some saves out of the top drawer to deny them.

The game swung back in Clevedon's favour and a beautifully worked short corner routine between Beth Barzotelli and Caitlin Meredith saw the former make it 3-0. With Clifton reeling it wasn't long before Caitlin Meredith gained some reward for a great display when she scored the fourth. Late in the game the home side did find a way through to score a consolation goal.

With no game next week Clevedon return to action on 24th when they entertain BAC 2nds, 10.30am start at Clevedon School.
