In what was a great game of youths rugby, Yatton and Nailsea & Backwell (Yatwell) U16s defeated Gordano U16s 22-5 at the weekend.

Earlier in the season Yatwell narrowly lost a hard fought second round Cup battle away at Gordano so they were looking to make the most of their home advantage as they welcomed their visitors and put on a fantastic display of aggressive, attacking rugby with a defensive performance to match.

Tries came through Charlie Hayett, Matt Lane, Mo Sayce, and Kieran Thomas all with one each while Jimmy Jackson-Patel scored one conversion.

Having put in their performance of the season last week it was absolutely brilliant that Yatwell came together as a team to take it up another level.

After the match the club said: "What secured the victory was the attitude from the very start that was then backed up by an astonishing work rate both in defence and off the ball.

"Every player stood up to be counted, no-one was found wanting and each deserves a mention in their own right for the way they played."
