Toolstation Western League: Nailsea & Tickenham 9-0 Millbrook

The Swags put in a ruthless performance against struggling Millbrook in the Toolstation Western league Premier league, recording their biggest win of the season, writes Paul Harnden.

The Fryth Way crowd were treated to some excellent goals as the Swags brushed Millbrook aside.

Shay Allen made his debut in goal, and the Swags welcomed back Oscar Pearce.

There were early chances for strikers Lucas Vowles and Luke Osgood but both had efforts saved by the Millbrook keeper.

Then a long throw was flicked on for Miles Hardidge to finish at the back post to make it 1-0 and open the floodgates for the afternoon. Lucas Vowles made it 2-0 with a calm finish inside the box after a great passing move between Oscar Pearce, who found Luke Osgood on the left to neatly assist Vowles.

Millbrook had a good effort at the other end but the ball sailed over the bar to end the first half 2-0.

The second half started with an early Luke Osgood brace, firstly making no mistake from a half chance inside the box, and then from the penalty spot after Olly Carter made a great forward run and was fouled.

Harry Pruett made it five, with a brilliant left footed shot from outside the box found the bottom corner. Oscar Collins and Andy Head were now introduced from the bench, and both scored quickly after coming on.

Firstly Collins took control of the ball in a crowded penalty area and struck past the helpless Millbrook keeper, then Andy Head tapped in after Lucas Vowles skipped past his man to assist.

There was still time for Lloyd Mills to place home a close range indirect free kick to make it 8-0, before the Swags saved the best goal until last with Man of the Match Harry Pruett lobbing the keeper from just over the half way line with a confident finish to cap a great afternoon in Nailsea.

Team - Allen, Hurst, Gissing, Pearce, Manning, Carter, Pilgrim, Pruett, Hardidge, Osgood, Vowles. Subs - Mills, Seeley, Head, Collins, Ford.

Joint Manager Jamie Smith: "It was a brilliant afternoon for us. Whilst Millbrook are struggling at the wrong end of the table we still had to show our quality with the ball and be clinical in the final third, which the lads executed very well.

"We have won every game so far in 2024 and I’m confident we will keep pushing up the table now with the side settling down after some recent arrivals and departures."
