Nailsea United Walking Football Club are on the hunt to bring in new members in 2024.

Nailsea United was founded in May 2023 by chairperson and founder Dave Newcombe after a shout out for players over a community Facebook group which resulted in the club being formed and has currently between 30 and 40 members.

United train up to twice a week at Backwell School and Nailsea School, respectively.

United's training sessions consist of a five to 10-minute warm-ups with 10-minute games to enable a water break and played in great fun and in great spirit.

Walking Football is also a great motivator for improving fitness and maintaining a healthy state of body and mind with the most important part of Nailsea is their beating heart, encouraging the feeling of togetherness and belonging and are on the lookout for fresh players to join their club.

In a statement published by the club, they said: "We can accommodate players that have never kicked a ball in their life to players that have played for years at a high level but want to move to a slower paced game whilst still applying their football skills."

Off the pitch Nailsea have many sponsors, including Hensons Estate Agents, who have kindly donated two lots of football shirts, which the walking footballers are immensely proud to wear!

The North Somerset club have also recently raised for a portable defibrillator, with survival rates vastly improve if used within three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest. Nailsea hope that they never have to use it, but it is in their armoury if needed.

As a new club, Nailsea had their first Christmas social and awards ceremony recently, which was a great success and a lot of fun had by all and will feature in their calendar every year!

At present, Nailsea only train, play friendlies and tournaments but this may change in the future and may consider joining a league in the future.
