Richard Palmer said if it wasn’t for the players and club people that came before him “none of this would be possible” after making his 400th Nailsea & Backwell appearance.

Palmer reached the landmark in the Ravens final Counties 1 Tribute Western North game of 2023 against Cleve, which the North Somerset outfit 41-5 winners at West End Park on their way to their 12 successive win.

“It was a real honour to take to the field for my 400th first team game,” he said.

“I even managed to bag a try which doesn’t happen to often anymore. 

“We are 12 out of 12 currently and are taking every week as it comes there is great atmosphere at the club with three teams running most weeks.”

Palmer, who made his debut in 1998, said he had been touched by everyone who has passed on their congratulations and says if it wasn’t for the players and staff he wouldn’t have been in this position.

“Everyone has been extremely kind with their words and I appreciate every single one,” he added.

“However, if it wasn’t for the people, players and clubman/women that came before me none of this would be possible.

“So, I would like to take the time to thank anyone that has played their part in the club over the past 50 years.”
