Portishead Town will celebrate the life of Ollie Hatfield by dedicating the game in his memory against Cribbs Reserves in the Toolstation Western League Division One on Boxing Day.

Hatfield, who joined the senior set up at Posset in 1999, went on to play a record 323 Toolstation appearances between 2005 and 2019 and scored 11 goals, sadly passed away at the age of 39 from Cancer in July.

Hatfield’s widow Emma, children Lily, Teddy and Elsie, parents Lyn and Twiggy, sister Molly and his wider family have been invited as guests and will be in attendance at Bristol Road.

A minute’s applause will be done in the fifth minute of the game, due to the number five shirt Hatfield wore during his time with Posset.

The club will also be collecting for Bowel Cancer UK.

And manager Kye Mountford said it is important to produce a special performance for Hatfield.

“There will no rest over the festive period, with Cribbs coming Boxing Day which is obviously a mouth-watering tie,” he said.

“On that day we have the honour of celebrating the life of our very own Ollie Hatfield, who passed away a few months ago, his wife Emma and family will be at the game.

“Olly will go down as a Portishead legend, great guy played for the club hundreds of time, and there is no words good enough to describe him if I being honest with you.

“So, it’s great to have his beautiful family down on Boxing Day and urge the town to come out. As Olly’s club number was five there will be a minute’s applause on the fifth minute of the game.

“It will be a special day for a truly special man, but there will be no extra pressure from me on the lads they know there jobs and the standards I expect for every single game.”

Mountford confirmed Ethan Feltham and Tony Lawrence will both be in the squad against Cribbs after the duo missed last Saturday's 1-0 win against Hengrove Athletic and said it is important to go into this Christmas period full of momentum and stretch their unbeaten run go 22 league games.

“It’s great to have Toby and Ethan back, two top players who’s levels have been high so far this season.

“It’s very important (to keep momentum), we’re on a high at the moment so the lads are buzzing for every game.

“I don’t really care about the run it’s every single game that I focus on but a few of the lads keep mentioning it so they want to keep It going.”
