Three members of Clevedon RFC under-16s were selected to play for Bristol Bears under-16s against Rhonda Valley Schools.

Lewis Carter, Matt Small and Zander Harding played their part in an impressive overall performance for the Bears.

The match was hard fought, with the Welsh outfit bringing a strong squad over from South Wales, but the final score finished 56-24 in favour of the Bears.

Andrew Bassett, Clevedon under-16s coach, said ‘it was an enjoyable match to watch; the Bristol Bears Aspire and Excel programs provide a great opportunity for the wealth of talent across our region to develop under expert coaching.

“It’s particularly pleasing to see the improvement in all the players when they come back to the club’.

Ben Stone, Clevedon under-16s and Colts coach, added: ‘It’s wonderful to see our young players being given the opportunity to compete at this level alongside players from other local clubs and creating new friendships along the way’.

Tim Shelton, Clevedon under-16s head coach, added: “I’m immensely proud of all our Clevedon under-16s. It’s very rewarding to see some of the team getting opportunities with the Bears.”
