Uphill Castle manager Anthony Askins felt “two big moments” changed their game with Nailsea United in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Premier last Saturday.

Askins referenced the moment at 1-1, after Charlie Parsons had cancelled out Toby Yeates' opener for the Castle, when Nailsea defender Matt Day’s back pass looked to have crossed the line as well the defender’s attempted pass to Rob Brown was pushed away by the goalkeeper.

Askins also mentioned when captain Jack Askins looked to have been fouled by Nailsea skipper Mike Rowcliffe in the lead up to Ryan Ford’s screamer to take the lead for the first time in the match before Mike Vaughan sealed the win with a third deep in stoppage time.

“Two big moments that changed the game in my opinion,” he said.

“We conceded the sloppy goal for ourselves, that's our fault. I then thought we went down the other end and I didn't want to say too much at first because of the angle I was at I couldn't tell whether it crossed the line or not.

“I’m only going off people that were behind the goal and lots of people that were behind the goal they said it was over by a good margin.

“So, we felt a bit aggrieved there also the one there was a back pass, did the goalkeeper save because I'm not entirely sure the rules on that.

“We had a quick look at it, but I'm pretty sure that should have an indirect free-kick there as well.

“I spoke to the referee; he was really good afterwards and explained that he didn't think it was a foul on Jack in the centre circle.

“I'm going to think it is and then the lad, I think has struck it a little bit off the cuff because he probably thought the referee was about to blow the whistle and has found its way into the top corner and it’s a great strike. (You) can’t take anything away from that.”

Askins said his side are having a "tough time" recently adapting to the Premier, following promotion last season as champions of Division One and last Saturday marked five successive defeats to find themselves in 13th place, just above the relegation zone on goal difference.

"Yeah, we had a really tough time adjusting," he added.

"It's difficult to put a finger on exactly what it is but it's five defeats in a row now and you can't hide from that. We need to start turning that around sooner rather than later or we're going to find ourselves in a in a real scrap down there."
