Uphill Castle manager Anthony Askins said he was left “encouraged” by his side’s performance against Nailsea United in the Uhlsport Somerset County Premier last Saturday.

The Castle took the lead through Toby Yeates’ clever finish to lead 1-0 at half-time before Nailsea responded with goals from Charlie Parsons, Ryan Ford and Michael Vaughan after the break to seal a 3-1 win.

Despite the defeat Askins said he was left inspired his side’s display and linked it to their defeat against Timsbury Athletic two weeks ago.

“Performance wise, yeah, really encouraged by it,” he said.

“I thought two weeks ago at Timsbury as well. It will look a little bit strange because we lost the game 3-0, but you could see the signs of the performance change in the attitude change and I thought it changed again today.

“We were quite pleased with the performance today. Yeah, certain things that go away but performance wise we were pretty pleased.

“We felt we deserved a point, at least. But you need certain things to go your way and they just didn't.”
