TJ Smart scored a late penalty to help Ashton & Backwell United return to winning ways after a 3-2 victory at Watchet Town in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Division One last Saturday.

The encounter was one of only two games on in the league and a five-goal thriller was produced at the Watchet War Memorial Ground after a tough battle was played in very difficult conditions for both sides.

The Stags took the lead after 15 minutes when Jake Flower capitalised on a weak back pass to round home goalkeeper Zennan Palmer and put the visitors ahead.

Four minutes later Watchet equalised after a defensive mix up.

Palmer then pulled off two excellent saves from the home side as there was nothing to separate the two sides at half-time.

After the break the Swags pinned the Red and Blacks back in their half and on 71 minutes Jason Radnedge's clever corner hard and low ended up in the net.

Watchet equalised immediately from a free-kick. Aaron Deeks and Eben Harding were both on target for the hosts as the game looked to heading for a draw.

In stoppage time, Ricki Sargent was fouled in the box and Smart stepped up to score the winner and help Ashton & Backwell win for the first time in five games.
