Nailsea & Backwell maintained their perfect start to their Counties 1 Western North season with a 31-24 win against Old Redcliffians Seconds at West End Park last Saturday.

The Ravens went ahead after good work from Jack O’Malley and Dickie Palmer saw the ball moved quickly to the blind side by Jamie Sullivan to put Joey Collins in.

In almost a carbon copy Collins went over for his second after quick hands from prop Jack McCormick. Alex jones converting for 12-0.

The Reds hit back through Lewis Oakley, with Dillon Worsley converting to make it 12-7 at half-time.

Nailsea started to assert their forward power with Charlie Cox breaking the line well before Will Marley went over for the Ravens third try converted by Jones.

A strong line-out maul saw the bonus point try wrapped up with Sam Cook and Ryan Barrow steering well before Joe Reed went over.

The Reds hit back through centre Tyrell Fekoya picking a line straight through the Nailsea defence.

Marley grabbed his second try, which Jones converted. At 31-14 with 10 minutes left the game looked done and dusted.

However, the Reds kept coming and Sam Rees grabbed two scores as Nailsea made it 11 straight wins. 

The second team scored 12 tries against Old Reds Thirds with Connor Mobbs grabbing a hat-trick and James Warren kicking 10 from 12 conversions.
