Nailsea Bowls Club have raised their arms in triumph after being crowned champions of their Somerset County League divisions.
The North Somerset Club's committee took a major gamble at the start of the 2023 summer season by blending a number of newcomers with experienced players in their B team.
As a result, the squad enjoyed a superb campaign, having only lost one game and with a 32-point advantage over their nearest rival to lift the county’s division three north trophy.
Captain Roger Chappell said: "After some early coaching sessions, you could see the new players’ confidence growing over the season thanks to the encouragement they received."
To make it a double celebration, the club also walked away with the champions’ shield in the North Somerset Mixed Friendly League.
Captain Steve Harris said: ‘This was our inaugural season, so to finish with a piece of silverware was very pleasing.’
Nailsea Bowls club is based in the heart of the community at Mizzymead Recreation Centre.
Newcomers will be welcome to join at the start of the 2024 summer season when coaching sessions will be available. Contact: jhall.nbc@gmail.com for more information.
