Cleeve Tennis club held their first finals day for over 11 years in what proved to be a great success recently.
Phil Stackhouse beat Hugo Hoare won the veterans singles after three well fought sets 6-1 4-6 6-2 and in the men’s singles Andrew Polly finally beating Rob Eyres in a championship tie break 6-4 2-6 10-7 after such a high standard of tennis
In the veteran’s mixed final Wendy Griggs and Stackhouse managed the win against Linda Haigh and Pat Broomfield in two sets 6-1 6-3
Next up was the ladies finals, which was another close match that could have gone either way, and Linda Haigh and Jackie Lightfoot beat Sally Lee and Jazz Hillier 6-4 7-5
In the men’s doubles there was another epic battle after some amazing tennis as Brian Robinson and Polly beat Andrew Lucas and Rob Eyres 6-4 7-6.
Unfortunately, this was the last match played leaving the ladies singles and mixed doubles still to be played and date yet to be confirmed
The event was well supported by the club with a great atmosphere and will be become a annual event.
