Former Clevedon Town and Nailsea United forward Sam Bell has been called up to England's Euro Elite League squad for their upcoming games this month.

The Bristol City striker, who has scored four goals in 15 appearances this season, is part of Three Lions squad to play Italy, at Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium on Thursday (November 16) at 7pm, before taking on Germany at the Jahnstadion Regensburg on Monday, (November 20) at 5pm.

Bell, 21, scored three goals in four appearances whilst he was with Clevedon under current Seasiders manager Alex White, while he was first team coach and his father Micky at them helm at the end of the 2018/19 season.

“It’s an amazing achievement for Belly and I’m so happy for him,” White said.

“We keep in contact and I often see him on the golf course and know how hard he works, it couldn’t happen to a nicer lad.

“It’s a great story but I know he won’t want to stop there. He’s level-headed but also hungry.

“Of course it reflects well on the club, he was here for a short time in his teenage years when Micky was first team manager and we enjoyed working with him.”

Bell said there is limit to what Bell can achieve and he can go on go to have a successful career in the game.

“Well knowing Sam, he’ll keep his feet firmly on the ground and his focus will be on having a good end to the season with Bristol City and adding to his goal tally,” he added.

I really enjoy watching him play, he’s sharp, aggressive, athletic, hard-working and a very good eye for goal finishing off both feet.

“That’s a lot of attributes for a top forward so if he keeps improving he has no ceiling. I wouldn’t want to put pressure on him but in my opinion he has a bright future in football and he’ll have aspirations to reach the premier league one day, hopefully with Bristol City!

“Internationally, I obviously can’t speak from experience, but working with youth players involved on the world stage, they’ll tell you that once you’ve had a taste of it, it drives the hunger to achieve more caps for your country.”
