Beth Barzotelli rescued Clevedon Ladies a point in their 1-1 draw with BAC Ladies Seconds in their latest West Women's Brunel Division 2 encounter last Saturday.

Clevedon, wearing their new shirts sponsored by Clevedon Stone Supplies enjoyed the best of the early exchanges but the home team worked their way back with a brand of big hitting powerful hockey, which led to them opening the scoring.

The stage was set for Beth Barzotelli, a supremely skilful player, she took the ball into the heart of the home team's defence time and time again, bringing out good saves from the BAC keeper and supplying good ball to her forwards.

BAC, however, still managed to attack and Christina Becker in the Clevedon goal was simply magnificent with a string of saves out of the top drawer.

The equaliser came following a short corner, Barzotelli created space and played a one-two with Lucy Pope before slotting the ball home.

After the break Clevedon's defence still had to work hard, Becker again producing some fine saves, Beth Barzotelli displayed her defensive skills, along with Libby Barzotelli, Iona Ramsay and Sophie Bowen, Vicky Ford went close for Clevedon before she sustained an injury and was replaced by Ashlee Cooper

The game could have gone either way, a short corner awarded to Clevedon in the closing stages was so nearly converted but BAC kept it out to share the points.

On Saturday Clevedon entertain Old Bristolians Fourths at Clevedon School at 10:30am.
