Nailsea & Tickenham fell to a 3-1 defeat in their latest Toolstation Western League Premier match at Helston Athletic last Saturday.
Joint Managers Jamie Smith and Nic Steadman gave debuts to Lloyd Mills and Miles Hardidge as the Swags aimed for an upset.
Helston struck the post early on and this sparked the Nailsea & Tickenham into gear to get the opening goal after good pressure.
Hardidge crossed the ball to Jared Ford whose neat touch set up Lucas Vowles who fired in to make it 1-0.
Helston were then awarded a free-kick and equalised through a back post header through captain Harrison Jeweller before half-time.
Helston were awarded a penalty which was converted by Jordan Copp to make it 2-1.
The Swags kept going and Jaden Neale’s cross hit the bar, and fell to Harvey Conroy whose effort was brilliantly saved before a point-blank save by Kyle Moore kept out Vowles' header.
But in stoppage time Helston ran through to seal the victory through substitute Rubin Wilson.
‘We produced an excellent performance which certainly deserved something from the game," said Smith.
"The players gave everything and It was a real disappointment that certain things went against the players during both halves which directly resulted in goals. We can take plenty of positives from the game."
