Hockin vs McNamara proved to be the match of the day, after sharing the first two sets 6-4, 4-6 the start of the final set was crucial and it was Hockin’s experience and tenacity to keep getting back McNamara’s big hitting that saw her take the lead before going on to claim a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win.

Rogers vs Wellings was next on court and after sharing early breaks of serve Rogers deployed his serve & volley style to take control and go on to win 6-2, 6-1 getting his name back on the trophy after a 15-year gap away from the club.

Next up was the ladies’ doubles, another story of experience versus youth; Hockin teamed up with fellow Gemma Rogers, taking on ladies’ captain Rachel Elliott & Olivia Wellings.

Elliott & Wellings started strongly taking an early lead with a number of winners coming from their rackets.  Hockin & Rogers were not phased and worked their way back into the match to take the first set 6-2, they kept this momentum going to run out 6-2, 6-1 victors.

Finishing the day was the men’s doubles with Matt Rogers & Mike Dale taking on fellow first team players Jason Burgoyne & Mike Maiden.
