A swimmer from Clevedon Swimming Club has been selected to join the Swim England National Development Programme for the 2023-24 season after his success at the British Championships this summer.

Jamie Steadman follows in the footsteps of elite British swimmers such as James Guy and Duncan Scott as he joins more than 90 athletes from across England.

Steadman picked up two gold medals for the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke at the Championships in Ponds Forge, Sheffield in July.

The ultimate goal of the talent programme is to help the swimmer's development and guarantee the delivery of quality English swimmers and coaches on to British Swimming's World Class Programmes.'

Steadman attended an induction camp at Loughborough College last weekend which focused on reflective practice, workshops and where athletes and parents got the opportunity to hear from Olympic Bronze medallist Cassandra Patten.

'I am really pleased I have been selected onto the National Pathway this year," Steadman said.

"The induction day at Loughborough was really inspiring.  I am looking forward to learning as much as I can during the pathway, which is designed to support me both in my development as an athlete and achieving my goals."
