Nailsea & Backwell RFC are relishing the chance to test themselves against Longlevens in their top of the table clash this Saturday says head coach Tony Hill.

Both sides have won all five Counties 1 Western North matches they have played so far this season.

And with the game taking place at West End Park this weekend, Hill couldn't hold back his excitement for his team.

"I am excited for the lads," Hill said.

"These are the games you want to play in as a player so I’m sure they are very much looking forward to it. They’ll be nerves so I’ll be sure to address that this week."

"Longlevens had a superb season last year that saw them win the Papa Johns National Shield and the Gloucester Cup, beating Matson, two leagues above them, in the final at Kingsholm. On top of that they have added some real quality to their squad in the off season and have a new coach from Cinderford.

"So, it’s a big challenge for our Ravens. We look forward to testing ourselves. I’m sure we’ll get lots of support as we have done all season and we’ll put time into preparation this week."

Hill admitted if he was told his side would pick up five bonus points wins at the beginning of the campaign he would have laughed.

The Ravens have beaten Bridgwater & Albion (35-14), Cinderford Seconds (34-12), Cleve (41-3), Clifton Seconds (29-20) and Clevedon (29-26) on their way to a 100 per cent record so far this season.

But Hill said there is no secret behind their good run of form but everyone is in this together.

"If you'd have told me at the beginning of the season that we would be five from five with five bonus points, I don't know, probably laughed a little bit considering the standard of opposition that we've played," he added.

"For us to be in this position is amazing and and there's no secret, it's head down and hard work, it's numbers at training, it's second team players pushing first team players for positions. It's togetherness.

"It's all the things that make up the team that take years and years and years. This isn't an overnight success. When we were on the up here last year, we finished fourth and this year we're going to try and go a little bit better, if we can, but every week in this league is very, very hard. It's game by game."
