Clevedon RFC director of rugby Tony Dauncey said their next two Counties 1 Tribute Western North games are ones they will be looking to win.

Up first is Old Bristolians this Saturday before the Seasiders welcome Barton Hill to Coleridge Vale a week later.

And Dauncey said his side will travel to Old Bristolians Sports Club looking to counter OBs love for playing rugby by planning to come away with victory.

“They beat us at the start of last season up there, they ran us around and and we came back late and we couldn’t do enough,” he said.

“They're in the bottom area of the league, but they love playing rugby, so we have to go up there and see what we can do to counter that.

“There's no surprises, we're going to look to take people on up front this season. We've got a really big, physical, strong and fit pack, but people need to not underestimate our backline, we've got a lot of young kids in there who are gelling really quickly.

“We scored a few tries in the backline (against Nailsea & Backwell) and we're going to get better every week, so let's see what happens.

“We'll go up there, we'll look to play them at our game and if they're better than us then they'll win, If not we'll win but we've got Old Bristolians and I think we've got Barton Hill here and there'll be two games we will certainly be looking to win.”

Dauncey said last week’s rest has helped his side and their preparation for Old Bristolians.

Dancey confirmed he he was in attendance to watch their seconds take on Nailsea & Backwell and despite being narrowly beaten, 25-19 to the Ravens, admitted some players played well and could be involved with the Firsts this weekend.

“The break was good,” he added

“It gave us an opportunity to rest some bodies that have now played seven weekends in a row.

“It was also great to watch the Saxons in action against unbeaten N&B and see a few boys put their hand up for selection this week in the First XV.

“There are a few boys back in the mix with Lewis Obrien returning from injury and Joel Giltrow, Will Trollope, Mason Parslow , James Lugtig and Tom Upton all featuring strongly for the Saxons last week.”
