Reg Wiles claimed his second successive Hagley Trophy after victory in the Past Seniors Captains Day at Clevedon Golf Club recently.

First held in 1968, this year's Stableford event was hosted by last year's Captain Chris Attwood, 18 holes were played followed by a lunch in the club dining room.

And Wiles came out on top with a wonderful score of 37 points.

He said: "It was a new set of clubs used for the first time today so I am delighted."

Ian Saynor was second with 36 points and hitting nearest the pin in two on the ninth hole.

2022 Club Senior Champion Les Holmes was third with a steady 34 points.

84-year-old and Clevedon captain in 2001 Paul Middleton was just behind after proving he is still difficult to beat with an excellent 32 points.

Chris Attwood took the honours in the Morgans Trophy which is a trophy awarded in recognition of the work done by the captain.

Russ Jones, at 90 years and Captain in 1995, was non playing this year but enjoyed his lunch and meeting up with colleagues and reminiscing over events from his era.
