Nailsea's Premier League Golf Croquet Team marched through heavy rain, strong winds and surges of sunshine to a resounding 14-6 win at Glamorgan recently.

Nailsea's team of four, captained by Ryan Cabble, got off to a flying start winning both doubles games in quick succession. 

Suddenly, the weather became turbulent and Glamorgan seemed to favour the conditions picking up three wins out of four with only Cabble saving Nailsea from a round whitewash with victory over home captain Kevin Ham.

Nailsea stepped up a gear, winning three of the next four games to pick up a slender 6-4 lead.

Round four honours in the double’s games were shared heading into the penultimate round.

Kriss Chambers beat Ham, Steve Durston was in impressive form to emerge victorious, along with a comfortable victory from Cabble gave Nailsea a 10-6 lead going into the final round.

Only one win from the remaining four games was required for a third successive victory. Chambers defeated Glamorgan’s Robert Upton in devastating fashion 7-2.

Cabble beat Peter Balchin, 7-5, Durston won narrowly 7-6 against Ham, and Graham McCausland sealed the final round in galore getting over the line against Glamorgan’s James Beach.

Nailsea's vital win means victory in their final league match in two weeks’ time will see them become champions of the inaugural South West Premier Golf Croquet League.
