Nailsea & District Croquet Club earned bragging rights as they came away with a 9-7 win over local rivals Bristol Croquet Club recently.

Bristol are Nailsea’s nearest neighbour and the matches between the two clubs are always anticipated with pleasure and delight.

The teams usually know each other quite well so there is always a good, friendly atmosphere between the two sides. This time it was Short Croquet being played with time limits of one and a quarter hours in teams of four.

In the first round Nailsea were in excellent form and came away with wins in three matches compared to Bristol’s one. This proved significant as all the remaining rounds saw two victories for each side and saw Nailsea come out on top in a hard fought contest.

Man of the match for Nailsea was Paul Arbos who won three of his games, with remaining members Kathy Wallace, Dave Clarke and Brian Roynon all winning two games each.
