The curtain came down on Clevedon Ladies’ season with a 3-1 defeat against Mid Somerset Seconds last Saturday.

Watched by a good crowd of family and friends, superb defending by Louise Wiseman and Laura Gillespie, along with Christina Becker in goal, denied the visitors as the game went into half-time goalless.

The second half saw the home hosts push forward for a goal.

Kat O'Donovan and Julie O'Sullivan were tireless in midfield and set up the front line, Georgina Blackburn broke and with Ellen Armstrong alongside went close to the opening goal, another break saw Hannah Becker set up Maggie King, whose shot went agonisingly wide.

Clevedon were now dominant and earned a penalty stroke, Ashlee Cooker stepped up and placed her flick to the right of the goalkeeper to give the Clevedon the lead.

With the game entering the final quarter, Mid Somerset finally found their form and ran in three goals to give the scoreline a rather flattering look.

Clevedon finished the campaign with a respectful fifth place and can reflect on a solid season that gives great hope for the next.
