Nailsea & Backwell RFC came out on top in their top of the table Counties 1 Tribute Western North clash with Longlevens after coming away 43-17 winners last Saturday.

Tom Griffiths opened the scoring early on for the second placed Longlevens before Charlie Cox scored for the third placed Ravens from a 20-metre maul, followed by further tries from Joe Reed and Leo Delazarri.

Harry Radford captured the bonus point before half-time, with Alex Jones adding the extras to make it 22-7 to Nailsea at the break.

Jack McCormick scored either side of Jake Fox as Jones found his groove with his boot.

And with the last play of the game Ben Perfect made a break down the wing and when the ball was recycled, it Adam Grafton put Charlie Bircham Davies in for the try of the game to round off a superb performance.

“We had game planned all week for what we thought they would bring and the boys defended brilliantly,” head coach Tony Hill said.

“Yann (Thomas - forwards coach) really got the boys fired up at training and they showed everyone what they are capable of. My challenge to them is to back it up next week’.

Nailsea & Backwell welcome Cheltenham North to West End Park this Saturday at 2:30pm.
