Nailsea & Backwell battled back from 21-0 down to lead 28-27 but Burnham-on-Sea proved too strong and came away with 37-28 winners in a Counties 1 Tribute Western North thriller at the BASC Ground last Saturday.

In a game of two halves Nailsea, by their own admission, endured a miserable first half performance.

By the time Luke Sharps side got to grips they were already 17-0 down but Harry Radford touched down from a good maul and with Alex Jones adding the extras the visitors finally got going.

The Ravens gave Burnham ways back into the game and they took every chance as captain Ross McKechan scored their bonus point try before half-time.

After the break Nailsea got their act together and started to piece together some nice rugby.

Charlie Bircham-Davies scored from good back play and when Radford scored his second and Alex Jones converted, the score was suddenly 24-21.

Burnham kicked over a penalty but all the momentum was with Nailsea and when Radford got his hat-trick and Jones converted the Ravens found themselves 28-27 ahead.

But with 10 minutes to go the Burnham stalwart Tim Piper scored the winning try.

Nailsea entertain high-flying Longlevens at West End Park this Saturday.
