Yatwell ended their long wait for action with a 31-14 win over North Petherton after the two teams produced a tremendous exhibition of rugby last Sunday.

Yatwell opened the scoring in their first game since December 6 after a lovely pass to prop Phil Clarke, who was flat out when he took it and looked unstoppable from 5m.

From the restart a wayward pass, forced by tremendous North Petherton pressure, saw Yatwell defending under their own posts. A subsequent penalty was quickly taken, catching Yatwell half asleep and suddenly the scores were level.

North Petherton’s winger then raced round the outside to add their second soon after.

Minutes later hooker Alex Wyatt popped the ball to Clarke tearing through on the other to move back within two points.

The final try of the half came from winger Mo Sayce, who had the speed and the footwork to run the length of the pitch and score under the posts to make it 19-14 at half-time.

Yatwell increased their lead after the break through Clarke’s before Number Eight Isaac Dahmani’s lovely pass found centre Ned Hill, which saw him power through the remaining metres to score and seal the win in style.
