Clevedon Golf Club Seniors Section held its inaugural Town Challenge on Tuesday 13th December.

A new competition between 48 golfers representing and divided into four teams: Clevedon, Portishead, The Rest of the World and The Nomads. The winner of each 4 ball match winning 3 points towards their team, second earning 2 points and so on.

A very competitive competition evolved which resulted in Clevedon and Portishead battling it out for the top honours with the Rest of the World and the Nomads close behind. 

Despite freezing conditions and six temporary greens there were some good individual perfomances:

Stuart Williams, Rick Smith, Ray Border, Andy James, and Pete Savory each getting 3 points for their Portishead team captained by Steve Boyle. 

Tony Bradley and Dave Dooling acquiring 3 points each for Clevedon captained by John Connors.

Ben Bamford (Captain), Joe Morris, and Barry Excell winning 3 points each for the Rest of the World.

Clive Hall and Mike Venables 3 points each for the Nomads Captained by Dave Merrison.

Portishead were triumphant with a total of 21.5 points followed by Clevedon with 18.5 points. In third place came the Rest of the World with 17 points with the Nomads fourth with 15 points.
