Nailsea & Backwell edged a hard-fought first ever Counties 1 Tribute Western North encounter at Avonmouth after coming away 26-24 winners last Saturday.

The hosts started the brightest with a short range try before Harry O’Regan went over for Nailsea.

After a series of penalties, scrum half Joe Reed scored the try of the day with a chip over the defence and regather with O’Regan slotting the extras.

Avonmouth added a penalty to make the half time score 12-10.

After the break Avonmouth went back into the lead with Grant Britton scoring from close range.

The Ravens retook the lead after superb work from Ben Perfect and Charlie Bircham Davies saw Jonty Marshall go over in the corner as O’Regan slotted the extras from wide out.

Charlie Cox would add a try from a dominant scrum for the bonus point for Nailsea and with O’Regan slotting from wide out with two minutes to go the game was over.

However, credit to Avonmouth, they came back with a fantastic try created by Josh Krupa and scored by Stu Souch.

Nailsea welcome Clevedon for a local Derby this Saturday whiles the seconds are also in at the same opponents.
