Clevedon Golf Club ended a successful season with their annual presentation of trophies to the over-55 age group competitions recently.


John Vickerstaff led the way with four trophies in the Eric Mayoh Salver (Medal), Supreme Champion, Eclectic Champion Gross and was part of the trio that picked up the Malcolm Nicholls Trophy, alongside Jack Harris and Glenn Twiselton.

 

Bob Dennis picked up three trophies including triumphs in the Arthur Hall Shield, Veterans Challenge Trophy and the Arthur Hicks Salver.

 

Tony Bradley was crowned Seniors Club Champion while organiser Dave Stratford claiming the Winter Knockout Singles champion, with Andy James and Mike James picking up the Winter Pairs Channel View Cups.

 

Chris Attwood and John Harris both picked up the Vernon Brown Tanakards, Henry Craddock won the George Heming Salver and Andy Tilden was awarded the Ron Halls Millennium Salver.

 

Seniors captian Chris Attwood and Alan Terrell both won the Maskell Trophy Invitation Day while Alan Gregory was the Dartmouth Trophy Overnighter Winner.

 

Roger Gibbins claimed the Captains Day Winners with Ben Bamford and Alan Phillip crowned champions of the Stanley Wootton Cup. 

 

There was further success for Tim Gibbs in the Ken Hopkinson Trophy, Martin Parker picked up the Senior nine-hole Championship, Reg Wiles claimed the Past Captains Hagley Trophy and Rick Smith won the Past Captains Morgans Cup.

 

The last set of awards were won by Chris Chapman, with the Eclectic Champion Nett and Les Holmes was the Seniors Nett Winner.

 

"We have over 20 competitions each year including KOs, which are all fiercely competed for,” Stratford said.

 

“Special mentions must go to Tony Bradley who won the Over-55s Club Championship, John Vickerstaff, who won the Supreme Champion's Trophy competed for by players who have won at least one other competition during the course of the year and also Bob Dennis who managed to bag three trophies including the Veterans trophy for the over-70s."

 

The presentation lunch was also attended by guests of honour, Attwood, Club Manager Reece Miller, Club Professional Ryan Crowley, Course Manager Richard Ponsford and Bar and Catering Manager Sarah Arnel.
