Nine-year-old Ben Hunt, who attends The Whiteoak Academies of Hannah More and Grove in Nailsea, has recently reached the grand final of a national championship.

He karts regularly at the TeamSport track in Avonmouth. At the start of November Ben competed in the British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC) final in Warrington, racing the top cadets in the country aged 8-12.

After qualifying on pole, winning his two heats and semi-final Ben had managed to get himself into the grand final where he came fourth, which is an amazing result in a sport which he started doing competitively in January.

To compete at the national final Ben had to set a top 10 lap time at his local track. The top 10 drivers then took part in a local final which Ben won to go into a regional final.

He then raced drivers from other tracks at the regional final in Leicester. Racing in a series of heats and finals he again came first to gain entry into the nationals.

Ben enjoys competing and is looking forward to taking part in some outdoor racing at different circuits next year while continuing indoor karting. He is looking for sponsors to help reach the next level of racing in UK championships.
