North Somerset Athletics Club secured another successful day of competition at the National Road Relays at Sutton Park in Birmingham, recently. 

 

The performers were the under-15 boys, who finished seventh overall, with Ben C clocking the sixth fastest time of all 204 runners. 

 

A special mention to the senior team, the youngest on show at the event, and all athletes that have been developed through the club after finishing 41st out of 74 teams.

 

Coach Julian Emery praised everyone for all the success they picked up in the Midlands.

 

He said: “All teams should be proud of their efforts and achievements, a great team effort.”

 

The under-13 boys finished 27th out of 42 teams.

 

Euan M finished in a time of 14 minutes and 38, Oliver F, in 13 minutes and 47 seconds and James H, in 17 minutes and 27 seconds.

 

The under-13 girls finished a respectful 28th out of 50 teams after Heidi M, in a time of 15 minutes and 14 seconds, Olive L, in 15 minutes and 47 seconds, and Amelia H, in 17 minutes and 23 seconds.

 

The under-15 boys A team finishing in a wonderful 7th place out of 66 teams 

Ben C came home in a superb time of 12 minutes and 34 seconds, Seb L, in 13 minutes and 14 seconds and Joseph F in 13 minutes and eight seconds.

 

The under-15s boys B team, who has only two runners, finished in 54th out of two legs with James B, in 14 minutes and two seconds, and William L, in 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

 

The under-17s men did well with three teams all competing.

 

The A team finished in 37th out of 59 teams with Samuel H, in 12 minutes and 16 seconds, Herbie C in 13 minutes and 33 seconds and Patrick H, in 13 minutes and 49 seconds.

 

The B team finished in 51st, with Joseph S in a time of 14 minutes and three seconds, Jacob F, in 14 minutes and eight seconds, and Elliot J, in 14 minutes and one second.

 

The C team finished 54th with Kyle B, finishing a good time of 13 minutes and 31 seconds, Nicholas P, in 14 minutes and 16 seconds, and Jude W, in 14 minutes and 44 seconds.

 

The senior men’s fared well to finish 41st out of 74 teams.

 

Matthew Howard was first to finish in a time of 18 minutes and four seconds, followed by Sam Gentry, in 18 minutes and 42 seconds, Joe Gentry, in 18 minutes and 37 seconds, Will Cheek, in 19 minutes and 38 seconds, Oliver Lock, in 18 minutes and 45 seconds, and Ben Hamlin, in 19 minutes and four seconds.
