A couple of Clevedon Swimming Club volunteers are finalists in the National Swim England Volunteer of the Year Awards 2022.

Sue Cinton and Eva Farmery beat off stiff competition to win their respective categories – Volunteer of Year and Young Volunteer of the Year – in the Swim England South West competition.

The pair will now head to the national final on Saturday November 26 at the University of Birmingham.

Clinton, who recently stepped down as Clevedon’s Improvers Squad coach at 25 years, was nominated because of her tireless dedication to swimming, particularly for younger swimmers just starting out on their swimming journey.

Clinton’s impressive catalogue of voluntary work is broad and varied, including working with schools, officiating at club and county events and coaching para-athletes.

Farmery has been swimming with Clevedon since a young athlete and has continued her swimming journey alongside a passion for volunteering, teaching and mentoring.

As a Level 2 qualified coach and teacher, Farmery now coaches Clevedon’s younger squads as well as mentoring new young volunteers and teachers.

She has been Senior Club Captain for two years running and also acts as a bridge between swimmers and the club committee making sure that the swimmers voice is heard.
