A local Karate Club from Clevedon picked up medals in both their juniors and seniors in their first Commonwealth Karate Games in Birmingham recently.
Over 100 clubs took part with over 1,000 competitors in the biggest Championships to date and the RDK Club produced a superb display in the Midlands under Rory Daniels.
Daniels is a Black Belt Fourth and was World Champion as well as Commonwealth and British Champion a number of times.
Daniels also fought for England and ended up as their Coach before starting his own club in Clevedon around 12 months ago.
Clevedon Cobras duo Freya Daniels and Sid Cook both did well to pick up a couple of medals in their respective categories.
10-year-old Daniels, daughter of Rory, who was in her first Commonwealth Karate competition, finished third in the Female Category. Whilst Cook came away with a bronze in the Junior Male Category.
And there was more joy in the Senior Events with both Ben Welch and Anatoliy Cox claiming a silver and bronze medal respectively.
