Yatton Bowling Club's ladies saw their dreams of Fear Cup success come to an end at the semi-final stage.

They travelled to Chew Stoke on a very hot afternoon to take on their opponents from Purnells BC.

And after a hard-fought encounter, which was cut to 15 ends due to the challenging temperatures, it was Purnells who progressed to the final of this year's competition.

There was success for Yatton, though, in the men's unbadged singles quarter-finals at West Backwell last Friday.

Andy Wesson beat Adam Knights in a high quality match described by one spectator as 'one of the best bowls matches he had ever seen'.

The semi-finals and final will be played on September 17, when Yatton will also be represented by Chris Lewis, who made it through to the last four of the women's unbadged singles.
