Claverham 2nd XI defeat Frenchay with ease at Henley Lane.

CLAVERHAM 2nd XI gained another victory with a comprehensive win against Frenchay at Henley Lane.

Home captain Rich Coombes won the toss and the visitors were put into bat. Claverham got off to a fantastic start with Coombes removing Williams for a duck, nicking to Keith Miles at first slip. It was then the turn of Aaron Gibbs to get his share with two identical wickets with edges to wicketkeeper Hooper.

Coombes bowled 13 overs with his deadly away swing, finishing with 4-32. Sam Waring got his rewards for his pace which was too much for the Frenchay tail. All the bowlers contributing with wickets, including youngster Tom Moore as Frenchay were bowled out for 74 in 30 overs.

The reply started well with Watts and Hooper making it to 35 with Hooper being bowled for 19, just before tea was taken. A mini collapse followed making the score 38-3, but John Watts (37 not out) and Jake Brown (12 not out) saw Claverham to victory inside 24 overs.

n Claverham A played The Star in the North Somerset Cricket Sunday League and soon lost Howell, Croker and Gibbs, but Ivall (29) and Nigel Yates (55) took the score to 108-3.

Claverham took their score to 158, thanks to the tail using all of their overs.

The Star’s Euan Gordon battered the Claverham bowling as he smashed his way to 118 not out as they reached their target with eight wickets and seven overs in hand.
