Clevedon Athletics Club headed down to Somerset to compete in the South West Cross Country Championships last weekend.
This year the event took place on the fields and woodland around the perimeter of Royal Naval Air Station Merryfield near Ilminster.
Wet weather in the morning made for a boggy and slippery course but a relatively flat route made a nice change for cross country.
First-off was Roseanna Stanfield in the under-17s race, completing 4.7k, who only joined the club last year.
The ladies race was next on the schedule, covering a distance of 6.9k.
First home was Joanne Gallagher (29.16) who thoroughly enjoyed her race, followed by Polly Atherton (31.06) and Laura Meech (31.23).
This year the men’s race distance was equalised with the women, so they also ran 6.9k.
First home was Jack Richardson (26.16), competing in his first cross country competition since school.
Next through the finish was Ben Burns (26.35), followed by Steve Wood (27.17), Jonah Murray (27.32) who put in a fast finish, Martin Hewlett (28.35) and Matt Croker (28.48).
