PUBLISHED: 18:00 25 May 2019
The life of one of pop music's biggest names will be documented in a brilliant new biopic film.
Rocketman tells the tale of the life of musician Elton John and his rise to fame.
The biographical film has been in development for almost two decades.
The project has gone through a number of directors, studios and actors including Walt Disney Studios, Focus Features, Tom Hardy and Justin Timberlake.
John took the story to Paramount Pictures, where Taron Egerton was cast as the eccentric singer and Dexter Fletcher was signed on as the director last year.
The film tells the story of John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
It also focuses on the singer's struggles with depression, substance abuse and the acceptance of his sexual orientation.
The film sees Jamie Bell star as Taupin and Richard Madden as music manager John Reid.
Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard will play John's mother Sheila Eileen Dwight.
The film will feature a number of John's hit songs including Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Don't Go Breaking My Heart, Bennie And the Jets and the titular song Rocket Man.
The film will also see new music written by John and Taupin and performed by John and Egerton called (I'm Gonna) Love Me Again.
Rocketman premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a lengthy standing ovation.
The Times has teamed up with the Curzon to offer one lucky reader a pair of tickets to see the film.
