Keepers from the Wraxall attraction made the hammocks out of recycled fire hoses, which were donated by Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

The two-year-old Andean bears, Tupa and Sonco, enjoyed climbing up to test them out.

Zoo curator Chris Wilkinson said: “It’s great to provide extra enrichment for our bears, the pair are very inquisitive and love exploring their habitat and anything new they can play with.

“It’s good for them, and fun for visitors to watch so a positive all round for the park”.

The fire and rescue service donated 40 reels of industrial fire hose which was no longer suitable for firefighting.

Bears, gibbons, lemurs and big cats at the park have been given items made from the hose, including play balls, climbing lines and hammocks.
