A NEW minibus has been delivered to a community in South Africa to provide safe transport and also a mobile library.

The £23,600 vehicle has been funded by Portishead-based charity, Za Foundation, which supports projects in the Nkomazi region of the country.

One of these is a group called Zakhele, whose members, aged 18-25, use music and drama to deliver important information to children and young people at schools, clubs and also ante or post-natal clinics. They also visit the UK every two years.

Before having the bus, they had to travel to the locations in the back of a pick-up truck.

The vehicle will also be used as a mobile library, taking books from a Za-funded library to schools in the region that do not have access to reading books.
