Young chef makes it to national contest final

A TALENTED young chef has made it through to the national final of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition.

Samantha Rides, from St Katherine’s School in Pill, won the regional final which was held at Builth Wells High School and will now compete in the national final next month.

Paul Mingo-West, head chef and lead practitioner at St Katherine’s, said: “It was an emotional experience.

“Sam delivered stunning dishes and worked with her trademark professionalism.

“It was close but we knew the standard would be high all round.”

Sam will now go on to compete in the national final to be held at Coleg Cambria, Wrexham Campus on April 25.
