The future of healthcare in Congresbury and Yatton will be debated by parish councillors next week.

Mendip Vale Medical Practice believes it must build a centre between the villages to give patients the best possible care.

The larger surgery – which would replace the villages’ two smaller premises – is earmarked for Smallway, opposite Cadbury Garden Centre.

While the idea of a bigger complex has been welcomed by Yatton and Congresbury parish councils, both are opposing the scheme because of its rural location in an area which is meant to be a designated gap between the villages and concerns over traffic.

Mendip Vale has subsequently altered its plans and Yatton’s parish councillors will comment on those changes on Monday night.

The parish council’s planning committee meeting will start at 7pm at Hangstones Pavilion, in Stowey Road.
