An Olympic hero will open a Wraxall zoo’s new bird exhibit this weekend.
Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will launch Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm wings of wonder flying display and specially-designed birds of prey enclosure on Saturday.
The 55-year-old from Cheltenham became a national treasure in 1988 when he represented the UK in ski jumping in Calgary, where he achieved fame, despite his lack of experience or success.
The exhibit features indoor and outdoor flying displays from some feathered friends, including a golden eagle.
An opening ceremony will take place at 12.30pm, followed by the display’s launch on the flying field at 2.30pm.
The display is headed up by specialist falconer, Nathalie Denolf, who joined the zoo from Belgium and brings extensive knowledge.
The zoo will add to its animal collection, which will home more than 15 winged wonders including eagles, falcons, hawks and owls.
Tickets, priced £13.50-42.75, are available at www.noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk or on 01275 852606.
