A Wraxall zoo has revealed the names of its two African lion cubs.

Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, in Clevedon Road, made the naming process open to the public through people commenting on its Facebook page.

The two cubs, born on August 20, are both boys and have been named Kojo, meaning born on a Monday, and Tau, which translates to lion.

Zoo keepers had no interaction with the cubs for 10 weeks other than an initial health check so the youngsters could be raised without intervention.

The pair were the first African lion cubs to be born in the UK for three years.

A zoo spokesman said: “We are so excited to officially name the two cubs and would like to thank everyone who sent in suggestions.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun watching the two cubs grow up together. They are already practising their hunting skills out on each other and their mother Arusha.”
