A children’s play park in Wraxall is due to undergo improvements which will cost thousands of pounds.

Swings will be removed and replaced at Millennium Green, off The Grove.

Bark beneath the swings will also be replaced with rubber matting, more than 20 years since it was last put down.

The total cost will be around £7,000, with The Wraxall Parochial Charities set to contribute £2,000 towards the cost of repairs.

Parish councillor Martin Law said: “The current swings do not comply with legislation, so these works are much needed.

“It will be a more attractive area for people to use and will create greater longevity.”

There was a broken storm drainpipe at the play park which came to the surface, but has now been pushed back into the ground for safety reasons.

Bristol Water attended but confirmed the pipe belonged to North Somerset Council, which will carry out the repair works.
