Youngsters will be able to use new play equipment at a park thanks to a parish council's funding.

Wraxall and Failand Parish Council spent around £7,000 to remove and replace swings at Millennium Green, off The Grove.

Bark beneath the swings was replaced with rubber matting, more than 20 years since it was last put down.

The Wraxall Parochial Charities contributed £2,000 towards the cost of repairs.

Children's play equipment at the park also includes a zip-wire, monkey-bars, springer, basket swing, and a table with bench seating.

North Somerset Council has carried out repair works on a broken drainpipe which came to the surface and the park has now reopened.

Parish councillor Martin Law said: "The swings did not comply with legislation, so these works are much needed and long overdue.

"It is great for the children
to have somewhere to go and enjoy the outdoors in our parish."
