An inaugural walking event will raise money for a children’s charity this summer.

Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) is launching the summer ramble, a five-mile sponsored walk around the grounds of its Charlton Farm hospice, taking in Priors Wood and part of the Gordano Round foothpath.

The walk will take place on August 18 from 10.30am-2pm and anyone aged eight and over can take part.

Priors Woods was once part of the Tyntesfield estate and dates back to the 1600s.

Hollie Thorogood, events fundraiser at CHSW, said: "We are so excited to welcome supporters old and new to this magnificent parkland where they will find our Charlton Farm hospice nestled.

"It's a haven for the families who stay here and we're so lucky to have Priors Wood on our doorstep."

To register, priced £10-13.50, log on to www.chsw.org.uk/summerramble
