Families descended on Wraxall on Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate the best of the regions's agriculture.

The North Somerset Show retuned to the North Somerset Showground for the 160th time.

Show staples including llama racing, dog scurrying and clay pigeon shooting all took place, while the equestrian programme contained show-jumping, Royal International Horse Show qualifiers and representatives from the Retraining of Racehorses charity.

Crowds enjoyed entertainment by The Barnacles Buoys and Adams Axemen, and took part in archery, tug-of-war and more.

In livestock, Charlotte Alford was named the show supreme champion of all breeds with her British blue foxhill, Nadia.

There were displays by The Imps motorcycle team, tractor pullers and the show's inaugural strongest man competition, which was won by Dan Stockley after a close contest which went down to the wire.

The event, which drew more than 20 heavyweight contestants, proved a hit with attendees

It was the brainchild of Matt Bembridge from At The Gym in Nailsea.

He said: "The show was awesome - we could not have scripted it better.

"The challenge was super-competitive, with a close battle to decide the top three and just six points separating fourth to ninth place.

"The contest went down to the final event, the Michael Burdge Head-to-Head Tractor Tyre Flip Run, with most battles neck and neck.

"Martin's Tye Guinness World Records achievement was also very emotional."
